Strappy sandals were never for the subtle. Now, one of the O.G. adventure sandal brands is going back to its 1980’s roots in truly gregarious fashion.
Utah-based Cotopaxi and beloved footwear staple Teva (pronounced Teh-vah, sorry folks) have teamed up on a capsule collection launching today, 28 July. The limited-edition Teva x Cotopaxi collaboration sees both brands’ best-sellers—the Teva Universal Original and Teca windbreaker from Cotopaxi—draped in an unsurprisingly bright retro palette that embraces a shared history of hues.
That’s right. It’s colorblocked everything.
With options for men and women, the Teva x Cotopaxi Original Universal Sandal ($70) is the clear standout. Made with REPREVE recycled poly webbing coupled with multicolored straps featuring upcycled Cotopaxi’s Del Dia ripstop fabrics, this rare sandal is both friendly for river trips and the planet at large.
The unisex Teca Half Zip Windbreaker ($90) is cut from a DWR-treated upcycled polyester taffeta and features an oversized kangaroo pouch, front flat pocket, and an internal phone pocket.
While the outrageous garms may be the draw, the collab’s true colors are revealed through its works. To commemorate the release, the pair donated $40,000 to the Cotopaxi Foundation to support the Boys & Girls Club of Hollywood as the org works to increase youth access to the outdoors.
Activism is nothing new for Cotopaxi. A certified B Corp, the brand has been deeply involved in Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) initiatives since it was founded, most notably its emphasis on sustainable apparel. Glad to see the still-growing Coto pull an outdoors mainstay into its colorful, purposeful orbit.
