After years of hearing to a strict “no toes in town” dress code, this New Yorker has relented and begun embracing the freedom a hardcore action sandal offers (still getting used to having my feet out in a restaurant or bar tho…).

The newly released Z/Chromatic collection of monochromatic sandals from Chaco has held my attention for the past few months, the latest collaboration from Snow Peak and Teva makes a strong case for switching things up.

The second collaboration between the two brands (following up on the Hurricane XLT, released Summer 2017) the Snow Peak x Teva Hurricane XLT 2 Alp combines rugged sole of the celebrated Hurricane style with the overbuilt straps and buckles of the popular Alps style, revived from the 90s. The end result is a fashion-forward, adventure-ready sandal as fit for clomping around the cobblestone streets of SoHo as the dirt trails in your own backyard.

For the watermen out there (apologies to our women readers, the Hurricane XLT 2 Alp is exclusively available in a men’s model), don’t worry, the sandal offers water-ready webbing with neoprene underlays for improved comfort and multiple points of adjustment so you can dial in the fit just right.
