The voice of modern outdoor lifestyle culture, printed by offset press and perfect bound in a portable, analog format that goes anywhere. Powered by our network of award-winning contributors.
Why did we make a print magazine?
Field Mag started on a hunch: that an entire group of outdoors-minded people who were interested in design and culture as much as in adventure weren't getting what they wanted from their media. More than ten years of stories and millions of readers proved us right. But in the same span, some of our favorite outdoor magazines have folded or consolidated while the internet has splintered into fragments and slop. We still believe in online publishing, but we're making another bet—that those same people are ready for something new, by way of something old: print.
Built on the same foundation of quality as the writing, photography, video, and design that sets Field Mag's digital content apart, our print magazine is all about exploring new perspectives, encouraging a slower approach to outdoor recreation, and sharing photography so beautiful you'll want to tear the pages out.
It's also about community. Our magazine's pages are filled with the work of photographers, dirtbags, athletes, designers, and award-winning journalists, all of whom share a vision for a more inclusive, more genuine, more accessible outdoor landscape. There is no one definition of adventure, no one way to be outdoorsy.
If we were going to make a magazine, we'd make it right. We linked up with one of America's preeminent art book makers to bring each story to life using the best paper, inks, and processes we could find. And we made it small-format—each issue is 6.5” x 9”—so you can stash it in a hiking pack and carry it to an alpine lake.
Each issue is dedicated to exploring the people, places, and products that inspire us most. We hope you like it.
