Surfing is one of those beautiful things—the type of thing one doesn’t have to know how to do, or even much about, to find it appealing. Longboarding even more so. It’s pure, or at least seemingly so, and dominated by creative styles. So is “Salvaged,” the above black and white film by surfer Harrison Roach, made from two years worth of clips from the Deus ex Machina cutting room floor.
The film was shot on location on the islands of Indonesia in clean, shoulder high surf, with a few large exceptions, and features fancy footwork of both local Indonesian Surfers Deni Firdaus and Husni Ridwan along with renowned longboarders Matt Cuddihy, Harrison Roach (who made the film), Thomas Bexon, and Zye Norris.
