Usually, working out is a solo endeavor that only benefits the practitioner. But when wearing Park Project’s sporty new activewearline, your workout will also help support and protect national parks around the US.
Popular for their public lands-themed apparel, accessories, and home goods, California-based Parks Project is driven by a pledge to donate a portion of its proceeds to benefit national parks and other conservation, education, or advocacy projects. While most of their apparel leans considerably more casual—think graphic tees with retro lettering and nostalgic graphics—the newly released activewear opts for a more modern design while still paying homage to our national parks with inspired colorways.
The initial collection features a sports bra, leggings, and bike shorts (prices range from $42 to $68) with each available in three earthy shades of blue, pink, and green with evocative names like Glacier Trail and Sequoia Trail. The colors were inspired by the collection’s three namesake parks: Glacier National Park’s rich blue waters, Sequoia’s vibrant forest greens, and Shenandoah’s rosy pink sunrises.
With an eye toward sustainability, the collection is made with blend of polyester from recycled plastic bottles and spandex. Ideal for medium-impact workouts like hiking or cycling, the compressive, form-fitting, moisture-wicking fabric provides plenty of support while reportedly still being comfortable and easy to move in.
The leggings and bike shorts are also high-waisted for extra coverage and come with handy pockets in which to store your phone, keys, or other small items. (As contributor Johnie Gall has repeatedly reminded us, pockets are important!)
And when purchasing any item of this collection, you know exactly where the money goes. The Glacier Trail shade benefits Glacier National Park’s Native American Speaks program, the Shenandoah shade aids various conservation projectsin the park, and Sequoia green benefits Sequoia’s Rangers in the Classroom program.
