Sure, we dig on work boots, and moto boots, and Poler boots, but we also know the value of hyper tech boots too. We also love a good collaboration (who doesn’t?). Now, put the two together and you’ve got our full attention. This new collaboration from The North Face x Publish hits the nail on the head with three offerings—a gore-tex boot, a more urban-styled leather high top, and our favorite, an insulated slipper with proper rubber outsole. (If you’re not familiar with Publish, they’re a Brooklyn-based fashion brand focused on highly-refined basics best known for popularizing the jogger pant, a trend that has thankfully faded.)
A sturdy pair of waterproof boots is invaluable when you’ve got places to go (the ski hill, or, the corner store for more snacks, for example), so we’ll start with the two function-forward silhouettes. The Ultra Extreme II GTX ($200) is a mouthful to say, and packs as much functionality into its design as the name implies. It’s super lightweight, features a Gore-Tex upper with an injection-molded midsole and Vibram outsole. It’s badass and will keep you protected most anywhere.
The Back To Berkley Boot ($160) is styled more for the city, and features a full-grain leather upper that’s been treated to repel water. An EVA midsole and lugged rubber outsole ensure your toes stay warm and traction on point.
Last but anything but least is the Thermoball Traction Mule II Slipper ($70), an insulated slipper designed for wear around the house and campsite. The water-resistant upper is made of 100% recycled PET ripstop nylon, while a heavy duty lugged rubber outsole ensures trips outside will not be an issue. These are currently atop our winter wish list.
The collection, dubbed “Midnight in Antartica,” is tied to a unique, deep blue, black, and white colorway inspired by the brightest night sky on earth.
