Running continues to grow its cool kid cache as social running clubs and boutique running brands gain momentum among casual and aspiring athletes worldwide. At the forefront of the trend since their first pair of running sunglasses dropped in 2016, Los Angeles-based District Vision has long since expanded into a wide range of “modern running tools for the mindful athlete.” This dedicated focus on the journey of running is on full display in the second District Vision x New Balance collaboration, released this week with an eye-catching iteration on the celebrated Fresh Foam X More Trail running shoe front and center.

Staying in theme with the first District Vision x New balance FuelCell RC Elite v2, released in 2022, the sophomore collaboration delivers a maximalist trail runner that more aggressively styled and similarly instantly covetable. Consider it right on track with past District Vision co-branded releases, including the brand’s first footwear collab, the 2018 kevlar-equipped Salomon S-Lab Mountain Racer, which remains a grail for many today.

Priced at $180, the District Vision x New Balance trail runner comes in two Earthy colorways that symbolize dirt and stone, as if it’s meant to be one with the elements. Contrasting haptic print panels are utilized for the signature “N” logo, toe tips, heel counters, and eyelets.

Meanwhile, under the hood is the stacked Fresh Foam X dual-hardness midsole that gives the shoe its platform-like appearance, responsiveness, and ultimate comfort while the trail-ready Vibram outsole features Vibram Traction Lugs for enhanced traction on any surface. Visual elements that are uniquely District Vision are imprinted throughout the collaborative effort: a metal District Vision eye-shaped eyelet in the top lace hole, minimal text overlay at the heel, and an outdoor night scene graphic for the woven tongue tag.

Complementing the Fresh Foam X More Trail release is a modest selection of District Vision x new Balance co-branded eyewear and apparel for men & women (prices ranging from $135 to $315). Most impressive is the collaborative Nagata Speed Blade eyewear: a six base frame in a contemporary aviator shape that is designed to protect the eyes and enhance the field of vision.

The District Vision x New Balance Fresh Foam X More Trail and accompanying apparel and eyewear is all available online now from District Vision with global availability hitting 11 December 2023 via New Balance’s website, too.
