Ten years ago, three middle school friends opened a small, community skateshop in Queens, New York. In time, evolved into a clothing line of the same name, Belief. Now making cut and sew apparel for everyday wear—“from the city streets to mountain peaks,” as they put it—Belief has partnered with industry-leading technical fabric supplier Polartec for a vibrant spring collection that’s hard to miss. Like, literally, it’s so bright.
As a maker of innovative, often sustainable fabrics for many of the biggest names in outdoor apparel, Polartec pops up frequently on Field Mag, making the collaboration with this small, independent brand even more exciting. Leaning into the storied brand’s more environmentally minded offerings, the Belief x Polartec collection uses two different recycled PET fabrics—Polartec 200 and Micro Series fleeces—in three different colors for a seven piece collection of apparel and accessories.
The fabrics, made of recycled plastic bottles, required 50% less water and 25% less energy to manufacture, compared to traditional fleece. Using each fabric for unique effect, the collection utilizes the thicker 200 fleece with higher pile for lightweight, soft fleece ball caps and matching bottoms, and the Micro Series fleece for the Half Zip top and matching pants, LS Pocket Shirt, and Neck Gaiter.
The ultra soft and lightweight material is both insulting and breathable, with natural moisture repellency and a quick dry time. Perfect for keeping cozy as a top layer during shoulder seasons or a mid layer in winter.
Belief wears the bright, safety yellow loud and proud—the neon vibe is sure to turn heads in town and on the trail. (Perfect for hiking during hunting season, we might add.) It might just be more satisfying than the crisp pop from a brand new tube of bright yellow tennis balls.
