For their fourth collaboration to date, the two outfitters bring a colorful palette to a range of limited-edition footwear and apparel for daily wear

A few years ago a friend was admiring my retro Topo Designs fleece while I was admiring his rugged Danner hiking boots and he offered me a trade. It was tempting, but since I couldn’t have the best of both worlds I declined. Now, with the latest limited-edition Topo Designs x Danner collaboration, out today 2 November 2023, the best of both worlds is available to all... until it sells out.

Topo Designs has a knack for making gear and apparel that is as flashy as it is functional, featuring bright colors and technical materials. Danner is legendary for crafting understated footwear that is as comfortable as it is indestructible. With four collaborations under their belt to date (2020's edition may be our favorite Danner x Topo collab so far) by now the two brands are well adept at appealing to the playful adventurer in all of us, weaving pops of color over thoughtful designs throughout.

The collection includes the Topo Designs x Danner Free Spirit Boot ($230), a recently relaunched silhouette from a boot Danner first introduced in 1988. The boot features everything you could want in a trail shoe, including a GORE-TEX liner, cushy Ortholite footbed, and a grippy Vibram outsole. The black colorway with splashes of green, blue, and orange looks provides a throwback trail-to-tavern look.

The Topo Designs x Danner Mountain Pack 16L ($129) is a mighty offering in a modest sized pack that is ideal for a day hike. The main compartment has internal organization, a laptop sleeve, and expandable front pocket. There are waist and chest straps for dispersing the weight of heavier loads, and the dual large side pockets can blessedly fit two Nalgenes for considerable access to hydration.

The Topo Designs x Danner Mountain Fleece Pullover ($139) is the perfect cozy and capable layer to cap off the collection. Side pockets, a half-zip front closure, and cinch cords allow you to keep out the cold, and DWR nylon panels on the collar and elbows will fend off precipitation where it counts.
