Lightweight camp chair leaders Helinox meet with New York City-based apparel brand 18 East for a two-piece collection, outfitting two unique Helinox designs in 18 East’s abstract “tracks” print that cites the wood block prints of American artist Gustave Baumann as inspiration. Both pieces—Tactical Chair One ($225) and Tactical Field Duffel ($178) —are exclusively available from 18 East from 11 am Thursday 22 February from their NYC shop and online store.
Compared to the standard-issue Chair One model, the Tactical Chair One covered in 18 East’s exclusive print uses a heavier-duty bluesign-certified 600-denier polyester canvas, versus the combination of mesh and a lighter 300-denier poly on the standard Chair One. The absence of mesh panels on the tactical model also makes for a better canvas for print application, allowing the custom artwork to make an uninterrupted wrap across the entire seating surface. Once packed up in a matching carry bag with the same print, the chair fits conveniently in any medium-sized daily carry tote.
On the Tactical Field Duffle, the same exclusive print covers the 600-denier weather-resistant recycled polyester canvas that makes up the generously-sized 60-liter bag for hauling a long weekend’s worth of supplies and sundries. Covering the duffle bag’s printed surface, look for a grid of MOLLE (modular, lightweight load-carrying equipment) webbing straps traversing the duffle for near-limitless gear add-on capabilities.
The waning of winter’s cold breath is evident in each rolling 10-day forecast, and we’ve got a close eye on the upcoming season of rooftop hangs and park sits quickly approaching. If your current camp chair or outdoor blanket is looking kinda dusty, consider and upgrade that supports a small Field Mag-approved brand doing cool things. Seeya at the park.
