As winter drags on, camping season feels closer by the day. Giving everyone something to look forward to this spring is the new Thule Tepui Foothill Tent, launched in February 2021.
Though rooftop tents are a curious category on its own, the physical footprint is what makes this innovative new tent worth talking about—it's literally half the size of other models on the market. A first of its kind, the clever design leaves plenty of room on the rack for carrying other toys like bikes, a kayak, surfboard, or rocket box. And it sleeps two, comfortably.
With a total weight of 110 lbs and a capacity of 400 lbs, the Foothill has plenty of room for two adults and possibly even a pooch. Oversized windows and dual coverable skylights makes this the optimal stargazing pad, while telescopic internal frame poles make it quick and easy to setup and breakdown, even for a single person. Mold and UV resistant materials, an easy-to-install rainfly, and a high-density foam mattress (sheets not included) round out the features.
The low-profile, symmetrical design allows it to be mounted on either side of your vehicle. And a shorter length allows for better aerodynamics while driving, too. All in all this clever tent design is a great option for anyone who wants to maximize the space they have to work with in their vehicle—and those with limited space in terms of storage at home.
The Thule Tepui Foothill Tent is now available for $1,699.
