Japanese footwear maker Suicoke has been at the top of the streetwear sandal podium for several seasons now. Recently, its thick-sole, thick-strap designs have even caught the eye of Danish furniture and homegoods maker HAY. The two brands put out their first collaboration in fall 2020, and are now back with another round of colorful harlequin-strapped sandals for 2021.
The collection hinges around Suicoke’s DEPA V2 sandal ($145), a Vibram-clad model that typically comes in six tame colorways fitting of sleek streetwear fits. This collab limits the range to four while expanding (and brightening) the palette; HAY co-founder Mette Hay was personally involved in selecting each new color combination, so you know it's legit.
In addition to the color mods, Suicoke upgraded the DEPA V2's nylon straps to a polyurethane-based vegan “suede” material for an added touch of luxe. Note that the sandal lacks the big toe thong that similar models have, allowing for limitless opportunities to blend and clash your socks against the new hues (should you decide a little more funk is necessary, which it always is, if we're being honest).

Suicoke and HAY cooked this one up in a limited batch, and they’re available exclusively from HAY’s online store, so grab a pair post-haste or you’ll be left to trust and pray the two reunite again next season.
