Even though we love our favorite pair of jeans for everyday lewks, we tend to stray away from denim when we need protection from rain and snow. Looking back into the brand’s product history, The North Face introduces three pieces for the fall-winter season dressed in a whimsically cool denim Gore-Tex fabric: the Men’s GTX Mountain Jacket ($450), Men’s GTX Mountain Pants ($250) , and Men’s ‘92 Reversible Nuptse Jacket ($380).
Even though the collection consists of just three pieces, it’s clear to us that the Men’s GTX Mountain Jacket ($450) is the star of the show. The two-layer Gore-Tex fabric (again, in denim!) uses a PFC-free DWR finish to provide reliable water repellency and breathability with adjustable points throughout to fine-tune fit. The denim shell integrates seamlessly with zip-in functionality when paired with the 1996 Retro Nuptse Jacket ($330) or Denali Jacket ($179) to provide added insulation as the season progresses into single-digit temps.
Complete the Gore Denim Pack ensemble with the matching Men’s GTX Mountain Pants ($250) made from the same denim 2L Gore-Tex, cut into a relaxed fit pant with elastic cuffs and articulated knees. While not sharing the same Gore-Tex accolades, we still really dig the Men’s ‘92 Reversible Nuptse Jacket ($380) that rounds out the pack of weather-proof denim outerwear. If the heavy puffer's denim style doesn’t convince you, consider the wide-wale tan corduroy variant.
Props to The North Face for shaking up the landscape of dull, slick nylon-faced outerwear we browse year after year and to Gore-Tex for ushering in one of the most fantastic upgrades we’ve ever seen in denim. We can’t wait to see what other unlikely textiles will get a GTX addition in the years ahead.
