In the brief time since Japan’s Goldwin entered the U.S. market, the maker of hyper technical ski and lifestyle apparel has become a favorite of the Field Mag team. Few others make such beautifully designed and highly functional apparel and outerwear that works as well on the trail as it does in town. The brand’s supreme attention to detail is again on show in the new spring 2019 Goldwin x Geoff McFetridge collection, the second such collaboration between the two lovers of nature (see the first here).
McFetridge, if for some insane reason you’re not already well aware, is a prolific Canadian born, California-based artist and designer that draws cool little characters, logos, and artworks everyone loves for brands most people like. The two have come together to releases a modest series of softgoods for spring, adding to the ongoing collaboration collection.
Available now in Japan at Goldwin's new retail shop and online, and stateside Thursday, 4 April 2019, the second Goldwin x Geoff McFetridge collab includes more illustrated graphic Ts and button-downs, and introduces a lightweight jacket and a Cordura nylon dad cap too. For us, the classic oxford and the Cordura technical jacket—each available in three colorways with sturdy construction and clever functionality like hidden pockets and extra durable fabrication—are the key highlights in our book.
Each piece is embroidered with clever McFetridge-designed Goldwin logos and printed with equally fun illustrations that continue the animal theme initiated in the previous winter collection, which celebrated a chance encounter between McFetridge and a Hokkaido fox while skiing in Japan some years ago (full fox story here). What’s not to love about playful animal embroidery on serious outdoors-inspired apparel?
As before, we’ll take two of each, please.
