To tell the truth, there are more quality cottage-industry bag sewers out there than we’ll ever have the time to cover. But that's not going to stop us from hyping up as many as we can!
We first reported on FSP Outdoors in 2021 after learning about owner-operator Blair Kemp’s wholistic approach to design and devotion to his local outdoor community–one that includes none other than your favorite online publication (Field Mag, duh). That dedication to community and creating high quality products continues today. Case in point, the newly redesigned Lumbar Pack, improved to feature increased cargo capabilities and stability during active pursuits (i.e. cycling, hiking, trail running, grocery runs, etc).
This new design of the Lumbar Pack still wears well around the hips or slung over a shoulder, and its new rounder profile makes for a better fit against your body. In either orientation, users will experience improved cargo access to the main 8.5 liter compartment thanks to an elongated zipper opening.
Outside of the pack, you’ll find pairs of daisy chains and cinching shock cords to attach an ad-hoc carabiner, doo-dad, or just an additional layer of clothing. If you pack the Lumbar Pack to its max, a pair of external straps will help stabilize the weight against your back or waist. Plus, a reflective strip helps you stay seen and safe after dark.
Should you need a little less space in an everyday hip pack, we recommend the smaller Fanny Pack in either its basic or padded style–the latter of which we prefer for carrying a compact rangefinder camera or point-and-shoot. No matter which FSP Outdoors pack you opt for, you can rest safe at night knowing that it comes with a lifetime of repairs.
