After months of indoor living, we, like many of you, couldn’t be more excited for camping season. Whether that means pitching a tent in the backyard, or staking a claim on a socially distant campsite close to home, the return of sleeping under the stars is welcome sight. As is the all-new Filson x Helinox camp furniture collaboration, launching today.
The modest collection consists of three Helinox best sellers from the South Korean brand's Tactical line—the Sunset Chair, Cot One Convertible, and Table One Hard Top—featuring lightweight aluminum alloy poles, high-strength nylon resin hubs and joining components, and rugged 600-denier polyester fabric available two Filson signature colorways, tan and new, limited-edition shrub camo.
The lounge-ready chair is a keeper. And the table more useful than you might think. But as longtime fans of camping cots (it really is the best sleep you can get outside) we have to say the highlight of the collection is the Cot One Convertible, which weights just over 5 pounds, holds up to 320, and can be set up at two different heights.
As one might expect with a collaboration from such high-end brands, prices are steep, ranging from $165 - $450. But quality never comes cheap—and neither does the added clout of limited-edition product. Sure, REI makes a pretty similar camp chair for half the price, but don’t expect it to last nearly as long (or garner half the likes on IG).
Much like outerwear and equipment, we subscribe to the buy less, invest theory for camp furniture. Heck, use the chair and table in your living room slash office and call it a business expense.
