We find it hard to believe there are still folks out there who still can’t get down with open-toe footwear through the record-breaking heatwaves that keep coming, one after another. To help appeal to more sandal-wearing people, Chaco has released the all-new Bodhi Sandal ($100), a pared-down style weighing nearly 50% less than their tried and true Z sandals. By eliminating a significant amount of bulk found in the supportive soles and a new minimal strap design, the Bodhi achieves a new level of minimalism for the trusted footwear brand.
Reminiscent of Bedrock's beloved ultralight sandals, the Bodhi is defined by a refined strap design—one Chaco heads will will recognize a nod to the brand's trademark Z strap nonetheless. Here, the Bodhi opts for just a toe loop and a single lengthwise strap that works together with an ankle wrap to keep wearers strapped into a low-profile version of the brand’s Luvseat sole. The reduction of sole material will be quite noticeable to those familiar with the Classic Z Sandals, but you should find much of the same grip and support along with added flexibility.
Players on Team No Toe Loops might feel left out here, but the Lowdown Sandal ($85) also offers an impressive 40% weight savings over the Classic Z and still delivers all those straps they already know and love.
We credit countless Summers of adventures to the airy comfort Chaco sandals have delivered to our two feet (with and without socks), and you’ll find that same joy in the Bodhi. The Bodhi Sandal is now available for both men and women, with three strap colorways to choose from–if things go well, we’re sure those palettes will open up in future seasons.
