The minimalist, design-minded project was co-created by a dynamo team of designers that includes New York agency Aruliden and Michael Leckie of the Vancouver-based Leckie Studio—and Backcountry Hut Company, a longtime Field Mag favorite.
Much like Backcountry Hut Company, Arcana proposes to provide an immersive outdoor experience via architecture—the focus here is more about health and well-being rather than a rugged adventure. As such, the design team made these reflective, polished stainless steel cabins to intentionally blend into their natural surroundings. Much like the mirrored getaways at Sacramonte Landscape Hotel in coastal Uruguay, the structure allows guests to literally disappear into the landscape and have the same one-of-a-kind micro-cabin rental experience popularized by Getaway.

What makes Arcana more than just another cool landscape hotel, though, is the supposition of an additional layer of spa-like wellness offerings that are spa-like, yet educational and rooted in science—of course, total relaxation remains the end goal, along with a reconnection to our wild and wonderful world. The on-site experiences even include meditative sound journeys created in collaboration with NYC-based Woom Center and The Dojo Upstate.
The Ontario prototype cabin is currently available to pre-book now for August 2021 and beyond, starting at $299 per weeknight for up to two guests. Don't take too long to daydream about a mirror-cabin forest retreat because availability won't last long, but, thankfully, future locations across the US and Canada will be announced soon.
