Katherine Englishman is a freelance writer who loves to ski, surf, cycle, hike, and travel (and sit sauna). With over seven years experience in outdoor and wellness product writing and testing, she has developed a keen eye for well-made gear and sustainable products and an expertise in hiking and camping gear, saunas, wood fired hot tubs, and cold plunge, among other aligned activities.
Addition to her work with Field Mag, Katherine has earned bylines in a number of other leading outdoor and lifestyle brands such as Outside magazine, LIVESTRONG, Parents, Downeast Magazine, Huckberry, REI Journal, Food52, The Spruce, The Good Trade, and Maine Magazine.
As a writer, she enjoys putting this knowledge to use by guiding readers through their buying process to help them discover high-quality, design-forward gear and other goods to enhance their outdoor experience. Working with design companies has also deepened my commitment to living consciously in the home and I strive to support others in pursuit of a more holistic and nature-centric lifestyle.
Additionally, Katherine is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) 500 with over 1,000 hours of training in hatha and vinyasa yoga, and 7+ years of teaching experience.
Prior to getting into the professional writing, Katherine earned a Bachelor of Arts degree (graduating Cum Laude) in English Literature and Film Studies from Montclair State University.
