Oregon’s Danner makes some of the finest boots around. Trust me—I own no fewer than five pairs, and they’ve yet to fail me, standing up to mountain treks in the Peruvian Andes and daily wear during New York’s harsh winters. To update one of their most iconic styles, the Portland-based crew tapped fellow New York outdoorists Westerlind for a sleek and stylish collaboration equally fit for town as the trail.
The new Danner x Westerlind Mountain Pass boot is available in both men’s and women’s specific silhouettes and features navy laces, chrome hardware, and a natural tan interior perfectly contrast with the otherwise all-black boot. The colorway has been dubbed "alpine" and damn does it look good.
A Gore-Tex liner keeps the elements out (the one-piece leather upper helps too) and a slimmed down Vibram Kletterlift outsole provides ample traction on varied terrain, without the usual platform vibe.
Each pair is made by hand in Danner’s Portland, Oregon factory, and sell for $380.
