Oregon’s own Danner and Topo Designs of Colorado recently released their third collaboration to date (here's the last). The three-piece Topo Designs x Danner capsule collection is sporty, bright, and definitely pays homage to the wild colorful style of the 1990s.
The capsule starts with a new look for the lightweight Danner Trail 2650, an everyday hiking sneaker for men and women inspired by the 2,650 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail. Though the relatively new Danner design is no stranger to color—this season offers over 12 colorways, outside of collabs—this turquoise, teal, purple, red, black, and-a-bunch-of-other-colors colered iteration is something else. The speckled Vibram 460 Megagrip outsole serves as a nice cherry on top. Err, bottom.
Built around an EVA foam midsole and TPU shank, Trail 2650 is a designed as an agile, lightweight hiking for light to medium days on the trail. With the color scheme, the Topo vibe shines through—even if with rather Nickelodeon-esque undertones.
Next up is the collab Mountain Pack, which continues those same colors, with the yellow liner and red zipper pulls matching the shoe’s interior and laces, respectively. Expect all of the utility of Topo's signature pack, including over 36 liters of volume and a side water bottle pocket large enough to fit a really cool 32 oz. Nalgene.
Last is the long sleeve Tech Tee, made from a cotton-poly blend that’s quick-drying, antimicrobial and has it’s own packing band for tidy storage. The geometric design follows some of the shapes you’ll find on the shoes and the pack while making a statement all its own.
If you’re looking for a new color-coordinated look to take out on the trails once it’s safe to travel again, this is certainly an unmistakable collection worth checking out. In the meantime, consider it a rather flashy flex for that 10th zoom call on tomorrow's calendar.
