Good design and the great outdoors are what we’re after in all aspects of life here at Field Mag. And few brands blend these two with an urban aesthetic as well as tokyobike, the Japanese bicycle brand with a North American arm run by model turned multi-hyphenate businesswoman Juliana Rudell Di Simone (read our Q&A with Juliana and familiarize yourself with the brand here). The latest tokyobike collaboration brings another great love of ours into the fold (spoiler: it’s coffee) with the new tokyobike x Fulcrum Coffee limited edition bike.
Based on tokyobike’s Classic Sport design but updated for a distinctly Seattle lifestyle—though applicable to life in most any urban setting—the limited-edition build boasts an 8-speed drive train for navigating steep streets, a flat front porteur rack for commuting or hauling groceries, lightweight fenders of inclement weather (duh), and of course, a coffee cup holder, because it wouldn’t quite be a PNW product if it wasn’t just a little bit twee.
The colorway and materials involved have been specifically selected to evoke a feeling of Seattle itself, with an engraved birch basket inspired by the region’s extensive forests and a grey Fulcrum branding atop a white finish that references the city’s surrounding snowcapped mountains and low laying clouds. A Brooks saddle tops it off.
The minimalist bicycle is available in limited numbers in three sizes (53, 57, 61cm) online for $950 from tokyobike and in-store at Fulcrum’s newest Seattle cafe. Get one while you can.
