It’s not often we see a newcomer to the outdoor equipment scene with as much staying power as Tillak seems to hold. The Portland, Oregon-based brand blends seriously attractive design with what is reportedly equally high quality and functionality across a range of products, most notably a folding camp chair, 20L dry bag, and a uniquely shaped sleeping pad. We’ve yet to get our hands on any of the product, but folks we trust—including contributor and Seattle photographer Colton Jacobs—have been raving.
Adding to the product offering is what they are calling the world’s most versatile waterproof backpack, which launched earlier this month on Kickstarter. The Siletz modular carry system is rooted in a 35L watertight rolltop backpack made of durable laminated Cordura fabric with clever features like a removable waist belt, weatherproof zippers, and stretch bottle pockets with straps to keep everything in place.
The system includes more modular accessories and functional configurations than we care to type out—we're talking laptop sleeves, dopp kits, camera gear storage, dry bag, cooler, and little pouch thing inserts, etc. So instead, click on through and watch the video (it’s worth it for the beautiful cinematography alone tbh) on the Kickstarter page and see fore self if the style resonates. We think it will.
PS - TIllak is a certified B-Corp that is committed to allocating 25% of profits to supporting non-profits in the outdoor recreation space and other conservation-related environmentally-focused stewardship efforts. In other words, this isn’t another mega-corp masquerading as a lone startup to gain favor. These are the good guys.
