Whether a portable fire pit behind your home or a modest burn at camp, sitting and watching the flames is a restorative experience for the soul. In typical Japanese fashion, outdoor outfitter Snow Peak has taken this foundational outdoor activity—aka Takibi Time—and designed an entire collection of products devoted to it. The latest of which is the new Rumpl x Snow Peak NanoLoft Takibi Blanket ($199), a fire-resistant insulated outdoor throw for keeping your backside warm while the fire warms your front.
The two Portland-based brands (Snow Peak's North American HQ is located in Portland, OR) first worked to create a NanoLoft Takibi Blanket in 2020, and following that success, will release the second iteration on Thursday 10 February.
The new Rumpl x Snow Peak NanoLoft Takibi Blanket uses a proprietary fabric made of naturally fire-resistant fibers mixed with cotton and polyester that addresses the threat of stray sparks and embers. That means no more worrying about rouge embers burning a hole in your precious down jacket or jeans.
Beyond fire-resistance, sustainability is the other key trait at work with this collab product. The underside of the blanket uses a ripstop fabric made from 100% recycled post-consumer polyester, while Rumpl’s proprietary NanoLoft insulation, made from 100% post-consumer materials, acts as fill to trap heat against the body.
Measuring 50” x 70” when laying flat, the Takibi Blanket should suit campfire lovers of just about any size. A nylon strap harness with integrated handle and co-branded buckles helps with blanket schlepping—it packs down to just 6” x 14” which makes it perfect for taking to any event where a little warmth is needed–fire or no fire.
Remember, the keyword here is fire-resistant, not fire-proof, so don’t go jumping through bonfires, but do breathe a little easier when wearing your favorite ultralight puffy while roasting marshmallows. The NanoLoft Takibi Blanket will be available 10 February 2022 online from Rumpl and Snow Peak and in Snow Peak’s Portland and New York City outposts.
