Outdoor blanket pioneers Rumpl are back at it with the release of the Rumpl x Draplin Design Co. collab, the latest artist series collection made with larger-than-life graphic designer Aaron Draplin of the DDC.
With an impressive client list—from Snowboarder Magazine and Union Bindings to the Swoosh, Bernie Sanders, and even the Obama Administration—and a sizable personality to go along with it, Draplin is one of the more exciting and relatable designers working within (and far beyond) the outdoor space. He’s known for his bold, utilitarian style and sometimes funky designs, and has made a name for himself unapologetically on the speaking circuit.
This latest Rumpl Artist Series collection sees the two Portland, Oregon-based companies come together to create two single person-sized Puffy blankets in designs that are strikingly different than Rumpl’s normal style, but distinctively Draplin.
Like other Rumpl blankets, the “Carcass Cover” Polar Puffy is made from 100% post-consumer recycled materials, including poly fleece and lightweight insulation. An anti-static finish reduces the threat of shocking yourself while shuffling to the kitchen for a snack. The design itself includes plenty of direct wording in the sarcastic, bold tone that fans of Draplin’s have come to know in his work.
Plus, this plush design comes with utility carrying straps and an outer snap pocket for your Field Notes notebook, phone, keys, extra tent stakes, or a snack en route to the couch.
The DDC Original Puffy, which has already sold out, features a mountain and sunrise display and uses the same recycled polyester shell and insulation used in Rumpl’s core product.
The collab is representative of Rumpl’s continued effort to work with some of the most interesting artists out there and we bet there will be more to come in the future.
In the collab promo video produced to put Draplin’s full personality and creativity on display, he says “this (collab) should have never happened,” but we’re certainly glad it did.
