Following last year's 2022 Earth Day collaboration, big time outdoor brand The North Face has again teamed with Grateful Dead adjacent Los Angeles-based streetwear label Online Ceramics to bring their trademark graphic, slogan-heavy touch to a second capsule collection of apparel, accessories, and even some lifestyle camping gear.
The bulk of The North Face x Online Ceramics collaboration collection consists of wearable items to keep campers and festival attendees draped in simple pieces from TNF’s well established catalog, like the 1995 Polartec Denali fleece and the Windjammer windbreaker, each with a smattering of Online Ceramic’s distinctive style that combines child storybook illustrations, photo prints, and bold slogans.
Within the collection (available now from Online Ceramics), the nostalgia-informed designers play with the obvious theme of outdoor recreation and the farther-out ideas about the cosmic interconnectivity of all things. BUILT FOR LIFE, STAR PERSON, and When We Put Water for Plants They Grow are just a sampling of what's found on the backs of anorak jackets and climbing pant legs.
A few pieces of TNF gear add camping functionality to the capsule, remixed to keep in style with the accompanying tops, bottoms, and outerwear. A collapsible Base Camp Gear Box and a fanny pack advertise HAPPINESS INSIDE could imply either innocent or illicit cargo, depending on the use and context. Once unrolled, the camp blanket's FOREST HUGGER message brings added ethereal comfort to the fuzzy fleece ground covering.
Like all covetable and fun limited edition collabs, the Online Ceramics x The North Face collection will almost certainly sell out, and quick. If you're keen to score some gear for "Camping and Outdoor Use," sign up for the brand's free XPLR Pass rewards program for first dibs online beginning 23 June. If you prefer IRL shopping, the collection will also be available in select The North Face Stores.
