From New York designer Jon Tang and his emerging footwear brand Fronteer we’ve seen a range of exciting sneaker designs, riffing on vintage designs yet grounded to contemporary craftsmanship. From everyday sneakers with bouldering shoe-like rubber soles to velcro-strapped approach shoes reminiscent of Nike’s ACG heyday, the colors are always playful and designs equally interesting.

Adding to the recent introduction of the aggressive 1980s-styled Geotrekker approach shoe and a few other new designs inspired by both the classic Park Ranger uniform and vintage military combat-boots, Fronteer has introduced a new color palette of the sleek Ranger Lo S silhouette.

Available in both yellow and all-black colorways—perfect for the fall to winter transition—the updated sneaker offers an alternatives to the usual black boot Park Rangers across America have been wearing for decades.

With a suede upper anchored to a Vibram vulc outsole by an exaggerated, ripple toe-cap—and only 400 pairs produced—the Ranger Lo S is quite literally, not for everyone.
