Everyone wants a piece of photographer Chris Burkard these days. His images are instant gold, capable of making medicore brands seem like something else entirely. And in the case of Fjällräven (arguablly the most well-known Swedish outerwear brand in the US), making their already interesting designs even more desireable. Released as part of the FW15 collection earlier this week—for which the lookbook Burkard shot in the Canadian Rockies, of course—the Luhkka hooded cape is an attractive, playful design.
Inspired by a traditional outerwear garment worn by the Samí people (also known as Laplanders) native to the northernmost stretches of Norway, Sweden and Finland, the Luhkka is a knee-length cape worn by both men and women alike through fall, winter and even on brisk spring days. Fjällräven's iteration is made with water and wind repellant G-1000® fabric and features a detatchable faux fir hood, a kangaroo pouch pocket, and synthetic insultation—a down version is also avaialble, though at a sizable markup.
The Luhkka sells for $350.
