Already two years since its inception, Arc'teryx System_A continues to blur the lines between the outdoors and the city by combining lightweight, functional styles with urban sensibilities. The newest System_A Drop 06, aptly entitled "Run to Rock," features a seven-piece capsule specifically designed to reduce barriers for participating in mountain activities as the summer season begins to close out.
The limited-edition collection presents a fully functional outdoor uniform of apparel paired with the first footwear design update to appear in a System_A drop. All feature muted gray and pastel yellow colorways with blurred, graffiti-inspired logo designs.
Arc'teryx System_A Drop 06 will be available today, 9 August 2023 between 11am-12pm PT from Arc'teryx online and in-store at Dead Bird flagships and select premium retailers.
Arc'teryx System_A Drop 06 Collection Highlights
For me, the highlight of the collection is the Moroz Shell Jacket and Overpant, both detailed with externally taped seams throughout in place of color contrast paneling utilized in the Drop 05 Chexa Hybrid Jacket. The Moroz Shell Jacket is constructed with a multifaceted Tyono 30 nylon fabric that provides protection from the wind and light water elements while its lightweight properties allow it to pack in its own pocket. Sleeve velcro patches are continued motifs that have been regularly present in System_A jackets alongside the storm hood, large zip waist pockets, and minimal Arc'Teryx branding at the hem.
"Drop 06 in a vacuum can be viewed as a system itself..."
Many of these design elements are carried over to the Moroz Overpant, wide-legged hiking pants offering unrestricted movement as the externally taped seams highlight the articulated knee pattern.
Drop 06 in a vacuum can be viewed as a system itself as the roomy Moroz shells offer plenty of room for interacting with inner layer offerings.
The Tyjax Insulated Shirt is warm yet breathable due to its Coreloft Compact insulation. The collarless zip-up acts as the perfect transitional layer for fluctuating weathers while its zip chest pocket provides storage utility in any setting. The more lightweight Tjax T-Shirt pairs perfectly with the Tobi Shorts as both are purposefully developed for high-intensity activities and hikes due to their high performance fabrics and relaxed fits.
Supporting the new apparel models are reimagined mainline offerings such as the Arro-X 16 Backpack featuring a blurred Arc’teryx graphic front and center. The Arro-X 16 Backpack combines a technical construction with an intentional internal organization that can even hold a 13” laptop. All these features make it the ultimate pack for everyday use and off-mountain adventures.
Drop 06 also presents its first footwear offering with the newest iteration of the mainline Norvan SL 3 trail running shoe, opting for a laceless Matryx Micro upper. The Norvan SL 3 Slip-on utilizes a knit collar and integrated tongue to provide a snug wear while offering a streamlined profile for comfort and breathability. The outsole is fitted with a Vibram Megagrip LITEBASE technology to ensure grip and performance are never in doubt.
In all, Run to Rock continues System_A’s intentional designs and silhouettes in combination with its first endeavor into footwear, providing performance-driven pieces that can be effortlessly styled for urban and alpine environments.
System_A Drop 06 is available directly from Arc'teryx online and via select brick and mortars from 9 August 2023, with prices ranging from $100 to $400.
