Celebrating the memories of his formative summers away at camp, 18 East founder and creative director Antonio Ciongoli recalls the spirit in a collection of apparel and accessories that transport us back to cherished, carefree summer days. The 28-piece collection titled Take Me Home includes no shortage of familiar hits from the late-90s and early '00s that have made all but a complete comeback in recent trends: rugby shirts, cargo shorts, and colorful nylon outerwear.

Though the collection isn't only tied to current fashion trends. By directly collaborating with 119-year-old Camp Billings, where Ciongoli spent 9 summers as a youth, 18 East taps into a timelessness with both new designs and a few classics—including a rare Crazy Creek camp chair collab for the true heads among us.

Established in 1906 on Lake Fairlee’s shores in Vermont, Camp Billings brought Antonio summer after summer of personal growth and discovery. And recently served as a venue for the collection’s lookbook photo and video shoot (the later featuring Ciongoli's own son who now carries on the tradition as a camper himself). This thick layer of nostalgia meets 18 East’s apparel in relaxed fits and bright colors as suited to today’s style as the era that inspired them.

Thanks to the cool, temperate evenings of a typical New England summer, Take Me Home features several light outerwear pieces that have me longing for the fall weather ahead, or at least an idyllic summer home in the mountains. So, count yourself lucky if you’ve got the August weather to rock any of the rugby’s, jackets, or hoodies.

Among the heavy cotton cargo shorts and Camp Billings-branded camp patches comes the sleeper hit for me, the perfectly faded Washed Tenner Denim jeans outfitted with subtle detailing and a lack of phony “whiskers” that usually accompany more mass-produced washed denim. The early 2000's Special Blend-inspired nylon jacket is another nod to Ciongoli's ongoing love of snowboarding—a true IYKYK piece of the likes 18 East loves to sneak in.

I expect much of NYC-based brand 18 East’s core audience resides in a dense city like our own, but the brand itself has some legit roots in the great outdoors. That urban-outdoor balance probably explains why we so regularly report on their releases, but we also just straight up love what they do. And, by the time you’re probably reading this, we’ve got just 30 days until Labor Day–aka the unofficial end of summer. We recommend grabbing something from Take Me Home and squeezing all the juice out of what’s left of summer.
